I believe that education needs to evolve alongside technology. The stigma around videogames needs to be abolished, and educational video games should be researched and applied to education. Why? Games are a holistic approach to teaching; centering learning around the student, creation of identity, making connections between school and the real world, finding true purpose in learning, and helping to teach the whole student rather than relaying information that appears meaningless.

The following website is to be used as an introduction to gamification/game-based learning, and it is my hope that it will become a valuable, continually expanding resource for educators, parents, and students.

These are the games of my childhood, which I remember fondly as an experience of entertainment paired with education. As you can see, they all revolved around reading and writing skills, history, geography, and social studies. Not only are these games skill-specific, but they also teach resourcefulness, creativity, and problem-solving.
